Clean Energy Works Oregon helps promote sustainability by making it easy for homeowners to have energy upgrades performed on their homes. CEWO’s triple-bottom-line approach to energy efficiency provides environmental and community benefits, such as energy savings; good, local jobs; and thriving and growing local businesses.
Environmental Benefits
An energy efficiency upgrade through CEWO not only saves energy and lowers the heating bill. It also helps reduce carbon emission for a healthier planet. CEWO grew out of the Portland and Multnomah County Climate Action Plan and is considered a key strategy in its goal of reducing the region’s carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050.
Job Creation
Clean Energy Works Oregon does more than help homeowners save energy and live more comfortably. CEWO also encourages economic development by creating local, family-supporting jobs. To ensure that these jobs are high quality, CEWO has created the High Road Standards and Benefits. These standards include guidelines for wages, training, hiring and health insurance that encourage local hire practices, an inclusive and highly-skilled workforce, and diverse business participation.
